So READY for Spring

I cannot believe how long it has been since my last blog! Nothing terrible has happened to us- we have just been hanging out...waiting for spring. I usually avoid wishing away my time, especially since I am really enjoying the ages of my kiddos, but I am wishing away winter. I've had it and am so ready for warmer weather. We have had a "cold" winter for us North Carolinians and my sinuses just cannot take anymore. On top of that, Isaac went through a weird camera phase where he would not let me take his photo. The minute I got the camera out he would just charge towards it...so I have lots of blurry close-ups of him.

To stay busy we have been spending lots of time at museums, indoor play areas and lots of playdates. We are so blessed to live in this city. I cannot say it enough. There is so much to do, for free or almost free, and it is easy and quick to get around town;which matters when you still have children who nap and get cranky when hungry. Though I get cranky when hungry too. And that's what we have been up to!

Grace is a country music expert. She can tell you who sings just about any song that comes on the radio. Literally. Some parents force the ABC's or numbers down their kid's throats- not the Mitcheners. We teach our children practical things like who sings the song "Start A Band"...Brad Paisley and Keith Urban- of course. She is starting to site read and it is just crazy! We read a ton at our house but I have never (and will never) drill my kids- and sure enough, it's just like the experts say- they learn to read just by you reading to them. It is just so neat.

Isaac is, and I brag, really smart. He has incredible problem solving skills at 15 mos of age. He puts his stacking blocks into our tub and climbs in. Then he can't get out as it is deeper on the inside (yes, I realize that is not so smart) so he chooses the biggest block to stand on and get out. If he spills something on the floor he will get his vacuum cleaner or a rag to clean it up. He follows directions to almost anything you ask him to do. On top of that his agility is amazing. He can jump on two feet and walk on a balance beam. Okay, I will stop now. Sid and I have stopped putting money in his college saving fund as we are banking on a scholarship for this kid.

I am so blessed to be able to stay home with my kids and watch as they become these amazing little people. God is so good.
Taken this morning. Apparently Isaac felt my kitchen floor was a mess. Vacuuming and sweeping- I cannot even do that.
Isaac is turning on the vacuum- He knows it doesn't "work" if it isn't turned on.

A future UNC grad??? We can only hope!
