Thanksgiving in Albemarle...The NC Zoo too!

For Thanksgiving this year we drove down to Albemarle to spend the long weekend with Janice. Uncle Will and his dog Ripley drove up from Atlanta. We spent lots of time outside as the weather was pretty nice on Thursday and Friday. For Thanksgiving dinner Aunt L, Uncle Craig, and Cousin Margaret all came over to Nana's house. We all had a wonderful day together.

Friday after TG. Aunt L, Uncle Craig, and Grace work on her hidden picture book. Good thing the answers are in the back. :-)
TG evening. We bundled up in the evenings- being outside with Ripley was definitely a highlight for the weekend.

Uncle Will with his niece and nephew. They had so much fun with their Uncle. Now if only we could get some aunts and some cousins! (Yes, that is you Will and Ben)

Cousin Margaret and Grace at dinner. Grace's plate looked the same before and after dinner. However, there was not a frosted sugar cookie to be found in the entire house.

On Friday we drove about 55 min to the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro. It was 65 degrees and gorgeous! The animals were out and about and we all had so much fun.

One of these elephants was born at the Knoxville zoo.

The polar bear was my favorite.

Isaac and I outside of the rhino exhibit. If I look a little tired, it's because I am. Our children do not sleep well in other environments. In Isaac's defense, he had a pretty bad cold. In Grace's defense...well, she is Grace.

The Mitcheners. This was taken outside the lion's habitat. We got to see them being fed. It was pretty neat. The zookeepers threw out two huge cow hips at the same time so the lions wouldn't fight over them.

This chimp was right up at the glass watching all of the humans. Not sure who was having more fun.

Isaac LOVED the sea lions. Even now when he looks at the pictures on my computer he gets very excited. We will have to take him to Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco.

Isaac and the polar bear. Isaac desperately wanted into the water here too.
